Or you may have been brought up believing: “You have to work yourself to the bone to make it,” or “If you’re not working, you’re being lazy.” If these sound familiar then you may have internalized these messages to believe: To be worthy, I have to overwork. Money equals struggle.

If you feel shame, guilt or avoid the subject of money all together, you may have heard things like: “It’s rude to talk about money.” or The more you have, the more people want from you.” You likely have a belief that money is taboo, uncomfortable or dangerous to have.

And finally, you may have been taught to be a “good girl” around money. It is likely you heard things like: “It’s better to give then receive.” or “You should be grateful for what you have.” If this is familiar to you then you can probably relate to feeling that wanting more is wrong or having abundance means taking from someone else.

As children, we absorb every message about money like a sponge. We don’t just hear these phrases — we internalize them. They become the rules our subconscious follows long after we’re grown. So even as an adult running a wellness business, part of you might still believe that wanting more is greedy, that money only comes from hard work, or that it’s safer to stay small than risk judgment or failure.

These early money stories shape how you price your services, how you receive payment, and how comfortable you feel being seen as successful. Until those subconscious programs are rewritten, they’ll keep running quietly in the background, no matter how many strategies you try.

And without realizing it, those early beliefs quietly shape every financial decision you make as an adult especially in your wellness business.

In order to get to the root cause of how you really feel about money it is important to find out why money is causing you stress or anxiety and even avoid looking at your financial situation.  (Notice I did not say lack of money?  Even people with lots of money experience stress around it.)  So here are some questions you can ask yourself to become aware of how your feelings around money could be affecting your businesses success:

1. What did you learn about money growing up?  
2. Was it that there was never enough to go around?  
3. Were you taught that you have to work to exhaustion to earn money?  
4. Do you believe that wanting more money makes you greedy or ungrateful?

Imagine for a moment that money was simply a tool — no different from the yoga mat you use in your studio, the oils you use in your treatments, or the software you use to run your business. A tool that helps you create, serve, and expand your impact.

If money was just another tool in your business…

• Would it still make your stomach tighten when you think about it?
• Would you still feel guilty when you invest in your growth? 
• Would you still hesitate to charge what your work is worth?

Probably not. That’s the shift subconscious work makes possible.

• Or that sinking, twisting feeling in your stomach every time you hit “pay now.”

That’s the emotional residue of old money beliefs and clearing it is absolutely essential for you to grow your business from a place of calm and ease not desperation and despair.

Because you can’t create abundance from a place of fear and you can’t welcome financial ease when your body associates money with stress.

Clearing those emotional imprints doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine. It means giving yourself permission to feel the stored emotion and finally release it, instead of recycling it again and again.♻️
